SeeMeU - The Academic Collaboration Network
How do you reach the entire audience of a particular campus?

SeeMeU is an academic hub where the entire audience of a campus is readily accessible. Users can post ideas and live stream into user or school created groups associated to a campus.

Currently the best way to get the attention of an entire campus is to put chalk on the sidewalk of the most heavily trafficked areas.

It’s never been easier to reach an entire campus than with SeeMeU!
SeeMeU is designed to give schools control of their digital narrative. What do we mean by this? We are an enterprise platform that builds solutions to empower schools and make the lives easier for the administration, faculty and students. We created this platform because we witnessed schools turning to social media in order to reach prospects as well as current students and alumni by disseminating information to every social platform that exists. That shotgun marketing approach seems to create more tabs opened on the computers of the advisors as they try effortlessly and exhaustively to stay in touch with the students. We wanted to create a solution where the schools could invite all of their students onto one platform and build the tools they need in order to make the college network more accessible for everyone.

SeeMeU aims to give access of each school on our site to the administration so they can access the Backoffice we have built which gives them control of certain functionalities. SeeMeU will continue to support these features, as well as enhance them and create new features based on feedback from our customers.
The difference between SeeMeU and Zoom, Slack, Teams, Group Me, Slack, Facebook, Twitter, etc etc is that conversations aren’t just happening within your groups or channels. They’re happening site-wide. Because everyone on this site posts into channels connected to schools, you can see conversations happening from anyone who has ever been affiliated to a campus. It’s not about how many friends you have or how many people are in your channel. This is about your affiliation to your school and the credibility that gives you when you have something to say or share. You’re representing something bigger than just yourself. You’re representing an institution and there is a pride associated with that.

Shortly, we'll add a shortcut to the Account Settings if you're on desktop to the left hand menu. Additional options on the left hand mobile will always be found in the profile button menu.
This allows you to select which opening page you want to see when you first login to SeeMeU.
This let's you select between 3 color schemes:

By selecting the "+" icon in the top right area of the idea post box, users can quickly create a channel. Remember, you will have to select which school you are associating this channel to. You will have to visit your channel manager page in order to add a group avatar and profile as well as select a @mention name for the channel. You can also invite users to the channel from here.
By selecting the Channel page, you will see a "Create+" button on the top left hand side of the screen. From here you can create your channel with all of the settings and associate the channel to a school.
All posts on SeeMeU are called "Ideas." When you post into a channel, depending on the visibility of that channel, the idea will also show on the user's page, as well as the feed page of the associated school. This also goes for live streaming into a channel.

If a channel is public, ideas and streams posted into it will repost onto the user, the channel and the school feeds (comments posted into the messenger will stay within the channels they were posted to).

If a channel is Signed-In, it will not show publicly.

If a channel if School Private, it will only show to other users affiliated to the school or invited to the channel.

If a channel is Private, it will only show in the channel and for the user and to other users who are part of the private channel.
We are updating the live streaming because we're preparing for it to work on desktop and mobile in the ios app as well as our upcoming android app.

There will be one to many streams where a sole person can stream to others via the visibility of the selected channel.

There will be conferences where select users can be invited to stream either publicly or only with invited users.
Access your available live stream conferences in Account Settings or through the idea box by pressing the camcorder icon. If you do not have the camcorder icon, this is because you are not listed to have access to it. Message us in the SeeMeU Contact Us section with your SeeMeU email account if you want to have the ability to be one of the first live streamers from your campus on SeeMeU.

The best way to ensure you have a quality broadcast on SeeMeU is to be on a steady wifi connection. Cell phone data works as well, but because of the fluctuations in upload speeds, it may cause your stream to fluctuate in quality for the viewer.

Live streams cannot currently be watched on the website. You’ll need to download the app on iOS in order to watch them on mobile. We will be expanding to Android users in the near future.
The first users to have access to the live streaming capabilities on SeeMeU are campus ambassadors. We will be actively reaching out to users via social media but if you want access to live stream, email us in our contact us section with your SeeMeU user email and we will get back in touch with you ASAP.
The most common situations where you might encounter connectivity issues with SeeMeU live streams include:

On the move / traveling – on the street, bus, train. You may be connected to a bad / spotty WiFi hotspot.

In crowded areas – the available bandwidth may not be sufficient to serve everyone on a stadium, at a concert or at a frat house party.

At home – if your ISP is doing maintenance work right when you’re broadcasting live streams to SeeMeU. Or maybe you’re paying for a certain download/upload speed and you’re not getting that.

Here’s what happens: if the connection is slow, you may not be live streaming to SeeMeU at a high resolution due to limited available bandwidth, so your videos may appear jittery / choppy. Plus – if your Internet connection is spotty and disconnects for some reason – your viewers are left watching a black screen.

If you are attempting to watch a live stream from a phone, you cannot be on a call and connect to the stream.
Ideas are posts on SeeMeU.

Up to 4 images and or gifs can be added a single idea.
Live and Panoramic photos currently do not work.
Wait for all of the images to display before posting.
Currently, if you select multiple images at a time to upload, they may not show in that order.

Also, we're currently working on updating the cropping of these photos so that they show the entire picture whether if they're a portrait or landscape image.

Videos from Youtube can be linked into an idea post.
URL links from Twitter, Soundcloud's website, and Giphy will currently be embedded into a post. More website embeds to follow such as posts from other social media sites, video sites, etc.

The latest Ideas sourced from the channels you follow.

The Ideas you see in the Main Feed are representative of the current school you're switched into from the Profile button on the bottom of the page.

If you’re joined to channels whose schools’ you’re not affiliated with, then those channels’ ideas will display if you switch into SeeMeUniversity from the profile button.
Feeds made up of the latest content shared by Schools, Groups, and Users from all the schools across the site based on your visibility to the groups.
A list of every School currently initialized into SeeMeU.

If more schools need to be added, request those schools in the SeeMeU support system tool.

I.	Information we collect

Personal Information You Provide to Us
When you register for and access or use the Service, we collect certain personal information, including a unique username, password, phone number, postal address and e-mail address. We may also collect and use any other information that you may provide while accessing or using the Service, including User Contributions as defined in the associated Terms of Service. All collectively referred to us “Personal Information”.

Information Collected by Automated Means
Whenever you use the Site, we and/or our service providers, may use a variety of technologies that automatically collect information about how the Site is accessed and used (“Usage Information”). Usage Information may include, in part, the IP address from which the Site is accessed, browser type, operating system, the page viewed, the time, how many users visited the Site, and the website you visited immediately before the Site. This statistical data provides us with information about the use of the Site, such as how many visitors visit a specific page on the Site, how long they stay on that page, which websites they are coming from and which hyperlinks, if any, they “click” on. Usage Information helps us to keep the Site user friendly and to provide visitors with readily accessible and helpful information. We may also use your Usage Information to troubleshoot issues with access or use of our Site and to improve the Service. Usage Information is generally non-identifying, but if we associate it with you as a specific and identifiable person, we treat it as Personal Information.
We believe that such technology usage is fair, lawful, and proportional to the legitimate interest and needs of our business, and that our methodology fairly addresses each user’s legitimate rights and expectations in view of the context and purpose for the collection and use of the information collected.

In some countries, we are not permitted to send cookies to the browser of a user without the prior consent of the affected user. In this case, we will seek such consent. The remainder of this section assumes that either the use of cookies is not restricted by applicable law, or if it is restricted that the individual has explicitly consented to the use of the cookies.
These “cookies” and other similar technologies like pixels, web beacons (also known as “clear GIFs”) and local storage may be used to collect information about how you use the Services and provide features to you.
If a visitor does not want information collected through the use of cookies, most browsers allow the visitor to reject cookies. Please note that if you use your browser settings to modify or block all cookies, you may not be able to access parts of the Services and your user experience may be severely degraded. We may share non-Personal Information obtained via cookies with our advertisers and affiliates.

VII.	What if I am a resident of California?

California requires operators of websites or similar services to make certain disclosures to users who reside in California regarding their rights, specifically:

Shine the Light

For clarity, we will not trade, rent, share or sell your Personal Information to third parties unless you ask or authorize us to do so. However, if we disclose Personal Information that is primarily used for personal, family, or household purposes of a California user to a third party for said third party’s direct marketing purposes, we will identify such third party along with the type of personal data disclosed, upon your request.

For further clarification, please refer to the “Contact Us” section below. Under California law, businesses are only required to respond to a user’s request once during any calendar year.

Do-Not-Track

Some browsers give individuals the ability to communicate that they wish not to be tracked while browsing on the Internet. California law requires that we disclose to users how we treat do-not-track requests. The Internet industry has not yet agreed on a definition of what “Do Not Track” means, how compliance with “Do Not Track” would be measured or evaluated, or a common approach to responding to a “Do Not Track” signal. We have not yet developed features that would recognize or respond to browser initiated Do Not Track signals in response to California law. In the meantime, there are technical means to prevent some of the tracking. See Section “Your Access to and Control Over Your Information”.
